Sustainability
Local Timber, Global Impact
At Moore Timber Co., we believe in the power of local, sustainable forestry. By sourcing our timber from nearby woodlands, we're not only providing unique materials for your projects but also contributing to a healthier environment.
Supporting Local Ecosystems:
Every piece of wood we use has a story. By transforming trees into beautiful, functional products, we encourage landowners to plant more broadleaf trees, boosting biodiversity.
Minimal Environmental Footprint:
Our commitment to local sourcing means significantly reduced transportation emissions, minimizing our carbon footprint.
Ethical Sourcing:
We carefully select timber from responsibly managed woodlands, ensuring that our practices align with sustainable forestry principles.
Our Materials
Nature's Building Blocks
Wood is a remarkable material. It's renewable, durable, and beautiful. We focus on sourcing:
- Larch and Douglas Fir: These naturally resilient woods require minimal treatment, reducing our reliance on chemicals.
- Locally Sourced Hardwoods: We celebrate the unique character of each tree, turning it into something extraordinary.
Waste Reduction
From Forest to Finished Product
We're committed to minimising waste. Our processes include:
- Utilising Larch Backs: These byproducts find new life in rustic projects or as firewood, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
- Safe Sawdust: Our sawdust is suitable for animal bedding, providing a valuable resource for local farmers.
Moore Timber Co. is proud to be a member of the Scottish Working Woods (SWW) program.
This means that our timber products are guaranteed to contain at least 90% Scottish-grown raw material and that the raw material has been harvested sustainably or sourced from sustainable sources.
